Week 2: Our Trip to Gorkha

This week we traveled to Gorkha to visit six of the possible 9 schools/homestays. It was a whirlwind of emotions, beautiful sights, and sweat (not to mention the 5 hour bumpy ride each way). Since I haven't had the time to write a proper post, let alone process the last few days, I am going to use this post to share some photos of the trip instead. (I'm still trying to figure out the best way to do this blog thing). Enjoy!

The elephant we saw in the streets just as we were leaving the Kathmandu Valley on our way to Gorkha!

A coffee break on the way to Ghorka, and a beautiful view. A nice break during the 5 hour long minibus ride. Talk about a bumpy ride!
Aview along the way...

The view from the restaurant we stopped to eat at.

The meal we had at a small family Thakali restaurant on the way to Gorkha.

The view from the Gorkha Inn patio.

A beautiful flower at our Inn.

Our twice daily meal at the Gorkha Inn.

Our morning trek to the Gorkha Royal Palace... some 600+ stairs straight up.

And the view from the top, before the fog had lifted.

Had to stop for a picture! How couldn't you with a view like that!
On our way to another possibly school placement. Monsoon season.

My first up-close view of rice paddies... maybe I can keep my blog title after all.

The rice paddies again, after the fog had lifted. It's a new view every time you turn around!

And again :) This one is actually a different field though!

Our first glimpse of the Himilayas! They just barely peaked out of the clouds.
Himilayas- Take 2.

Kelly and I before leaving Gorkha.
